Introduction ~
Born a block from the beach in Southern California into a family that celebrated the arts, I was influenced by contemporary California culture and the art of Richard Diebenkorn and Sister Corita Kent. Traveling in Latin America and living along Highway 101 between the ocean and the mountains are my reference points.
I found my own artistic voice in narrative printmaking because I love its strong graphic quality. During Covid I returned to painting and rediscovered the satisfaction of using paint and color. My art practice and teaching in Olympia have connected me deeply with my community.
Through public art events I’ve worked with land trusts, a women’s prison and numerous youth and social welfare organizations. A highlight of my art career was an art residency in Oaxaca which led me to curate an exhibit of 25 Oaxacan printmakers in Olympia. Making art defines my world.
